Amidst the warning of the chief infectious disease expert in the United States, Anthony Fauchi, From 100 thousand daily casualties, unless new measures are taken to contain the epidemic, Covid-19 injuries in the country rose to more than 47 thousand on Tuesday, in the largest daily increase since the beginning of the pandemic.
California, Texas, and Arizona have become new hotspots for respiratory illness caused by infection with the Corona virus in the United States, with a record increase in the number of infections, according to Reuters.
It is noteworthy that Fauchi, a member of the Corona Virus Cell in the United States, had said during a hearing before a Senate committee on Tuesday that the country is heading in the “wrong direction” regarding the pandemic, calling on the Americans to put up masks and avoid mass gatherings, after laxity resulted in Adhere to health directives to increase the number of injured.
He continued, “I am very concerned and not satisfied with what is going on, because we are going in the wrong direction.”
“Things can get worse.”
To that, Fauchi stressed that the worrying increase in new infections in the Texas and Florida foci raises the daily toll of registered injuries on American soil to more than 40,000, stressing the need to reduce the pace quickly to avoid a new outbreak in other parts of the country.
He said: “It is clear that things are not under full control at present.” He added: “I would not be surprised to reach a hundred thousand injuries a day if we did not reverse the trend,” stressing that “things can get worse.”
Fauchi also expressed his belief that some states do not adhere to the criteria that define the mechanism for reopening businesses and public places.
He considered that young men frequenting cafes and restaurants without putting up masks and not observing their social estrangement as a “dangerous” behavior, stressing that everyone should cooperate in order to eliminate the pandemic.
Moreover, he refused to speculate on the number of deaths that could result from the current outbreak, but estimates published last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that the death toll of Covid-19 on American soil could reach between 130 thousand and 150 thousand deaths by July 18 .
