President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s construction of the new capital did not make him forget the mother and historical capital that extends for more than a thousand years, so he launched several projects to remove all slums and transfer their residents to new projects to provide a decent life for them while restoring the cultural and aesthetic aspect of the capital through several projects that are in line with its nature Heritage and cultural.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, a few days ago during the inauguration of a number of national projects, demanded the speedy completion of the development of the area of the Great Wall of El-Ayoun by the end of 2021.
The President asked the Minister of Housing about the date of completion of the development operations, to confirm the minister: “The development is underway and will be completed within 3 years.”
Tannery and unsafe buildings
The first phase of the project to develop the area of the course of the course of El-Ayoun in Cairo started a few days ago, after the end of the demolition work of 92% of tanneries and unsafe buildings in the area, on an area of 83 acres of the total area of the project amounting to 90 acres.
After the completion of the removal of demolition waste, construction work has started on the wall of the tin, to surround 16 acres, and surveying of the area and excavation of foundations for the first stage facilities have also started.
Muhammad al-Khatib, a consultant to the areas development, confirmed that great efforts have been made to negotiate with the people; In order to complete the development work in the region, he explained in press statements that the options for leaving the residents were provided either in return for money or providing an alternative for housing, in addition to transferring factories and tanneries to the Rubiki after compensating their owners with either alternative workshops or financial compensation.
Muhammad Al-Khatib stressed that the development of the region in the primary aims to link historical Cairo with the various different eras, and activities will be presented with art, heritage, culture, crafts and trade, in addition to providing recreational activities in the region.
Tourist walkway, theater and cinemas
He continued: We aim to create a historical tapestry, as if we were in an old historical city, and hotels in it are old-fashioned, and there will be a beautiful tourist path, open theater, cinemas and galleries of artists.
And on the project’s position, a report by the Ministry of Housing confirmed that the settlement of 780 families from the area in Badr City has been completed, after providing 1008 housing units for them as a substitute for the unsafe buildings that were demolished in the El-Ayoun’s stream, since the completion of the work to transfer tanneries to the El-Ayoun’s wall to Medina The ruby leather that was launched in September 2016.
The number of buildings that were demolished in the region is 1598 buildings on an area of 60.5 acres, 67.2% of the project area, next to the demolition and settlement of secondary roads and voids within the region on an area of 22.4 acres, constituting 24.9% of the project area, and the size of the remaining urban bloc to date is 7 acres It includes 239 buildings located on an area of 5 acres, along with 7 other services buildings based on an area of 1.9 acres. The region is witnessing the implementation of the first phase on an area of 16 acres, and the surveying works for the project, soil probes and foundation pits have been completed.
The area under the development plan includes behind the fence from the mouth of the Gulf to the Lady of Aisha Square, and the area of the first phase is 16 acres and will be next to the wall of the course of the eyes, just behind the fence, in ancient Egypt, which includes the implementation of restaurants, cafeterias, tourist bazaars, a hotel, and an open theater , And green spaces.
It is noteworthy that the Cairo Governorate confirmed that there is a general plan to convert the entire area to an international tourist attraction due to its distinctive presence of the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque, the oldest Islamic mosque in Egypt and Africa, as well as the ancient churches (Al-Muallaqa – Mary Gerges – Abu Seifin – the Virgin), the Jewish Temple and the course of the wall Laayoune, in addition to the Museum of Civilization, with the optimal use of Lake Ein Al-Hayat, to redevelop it and exploit its banks with a number of activities appropriate to the site.
The development plan included some restaurants that are being implemented on Ain El Hayah Lake with a design that is inspired by the historical nature of the place and is consistent with the expected development in the El Mawardi area and the area of the wall of the course of Laayoune, so that the area will be converted into an important tourist attraction.
The development plan includes the Al-Fustat road in front of the Museum of Civilizations to which the royal mummies will be transferred, and an extension of it is opened to reach the Autostrad Road, and the Ain Al-Hayat road will be developed and linked to the cavalry and the ring road, in addition to opening a new road inside the Al-Fustat Park that links Salah Salem and the Al-Fustat road, As well as the construction of 6 bridges in the Fustat region to connect the area with the Ring Road, Salah Salem and Autostrad Roads, and the tenth of Ramadan.
The construction of a tourist pathway will be established in the entire vicinity of Ain Al-Hayat lake, after being purged and cleared, in addition to establishing a boat anchorage in the lake, an open theater and a fountain, and a hotel on an area of 265 thousand square meters.
As for the course of the course of El-Ayoun, a recreational area, restaurants and gardens will be established in it along the perimeter of the wall, in addition to theaters, cinemas, a book market and health services areas.
Create two museums
Two museums will be established in a recreational area, to be located in the place of tanneries and directly south of the fence, and showcasing the development of the leather and tanning industry. The second will show hydraulic engineering ideas at the time of the construction of the fence, and it will be in the Al Sawaki area.
Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, explained that the plan to develop the wall of the course of the course of El-Ayoun comes within a modern planning vision aimed at maximizing benefit from it on the social and economic level, and aims to revive and employ the dilapidated lands within historic Cairo, mainly to create alternative activities and uses Emphasizes the role of Cairo as a cultural and cultural tourism center.
A world tourist attraction
The Minister pointed out that the general plan of the design idea for the development project includes the establishment of a culture and art zone, which provides spaces used as an open theater, theaters and cinemas, in addition to a museum and exhibitions of plastic arts, a public library, a seminar and conference hall, as well as places dedicated to folklore shows, and a center for kinetic arts, In addition to establishing a recreational and tourism services area that includes a number of restaurants, open spaces and squares, with a focus on attracting the quality of restaurants that serve traditional Egyptian cuisine, to other Arab and international kitchens.
