Ahmed Ghanem Sultan, the former Zamalek player, revealed the reason behind his departure from Zamalek and Al-Ahly’s negotiations with him.

The former right-back said about his decision to leave Zamalek: “Hassan Shehata was behind my decision to leave Zamalek. I left after I renewed my contract after two or three months.”

“I felt sad and at the end I left, there was what was said to be a technical reason, but there was a misunderstanding that was the reason behind this,” he said on OnTime Sports 2.

On Al-Ahly negotiations, “Hossam Al-Badri contacted me and asked to join me after the 3-3 summit match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.”

“There are other clubs that have sought to join me,” he added.

Ahmed Ghanem played for Beni Suef phones after his departure from Zamalek, then El Gouna, spinning of Mahalla, and retired in 2015 with the victory shirt.

Turning to talk about confronting Lionel Messi in the 2005 FIFA World Cup, he jokingly said: “We faced Argentina and Messi did everything against us and dodged all players, but he failed to dribble me because I was playing on the right side while he was playing against the left back.”

He concluded, “Shikabala tried in the 30th minute to pass the ball between Messi’s feet, causing more anger, and everyone was evading from the goal.”
