A spokesman for Le Drian did not immediately comment, after the incident.

The injured official also conducted the examination before a scheduled trip to Denmark, but he now isolates himself at home until Monday before another examination, adding: “The result surprised us, and the most important thing is that the virus rate is low and not contagious.”

Other ministers to check up

On the other hand, a source in the Lebanese Ministry of Health told Reuters that the Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hatti, and the director of political affairs at the ministry, were subject to examination after discovering Al-Hashim’s injury, but the result was negative.

And if Darian had arrived in Beirut on Wednesday evening for a two-day visit, during which he met the Presidents of the Republic, the House of Representatives, the government and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Patriarch Bechara Al-Raie and representatives of civil society.

He also visited the Rafic Hariri Hospital and a social center affiliated with the Amel Foundation, south of Beirut.

“a critical stage”

It is noteworthy that the official data in Lebanon, on Friday, recorded 147 new cases of the virus, bringing the total to 3,404 cases, as well as 46 deaths since February.

In turn, Health Minister Hamad Hassan announced to Reuters that the increase in injuries and the registration of three deaths during the past 24 hours indicates a “critical stage” that may require the authorities to re-impose some restrictions to address the pandemic.
