Dr. Alaa Al-Zawahiri, a member of the Nahdha Dam negotiation committee, said that during the past week, one of the tunnels of the Nahdha Dam had removed 90 million cubic meters of water, expecting that to be one of the reasons that led to many drinking water stations in Sudan coming out of service.
He added, during a phone call to the program “The Story”, which is presented by the media Amr Adib via the satellite «Mbc Egypt», on Monday evening, that one of the tunnels of the Renaissance Dam is still working and the water is rising, and reaches a level of 60 meters, he added: “Ethiopia is storing water, but we cannot “To say that it has started to be formally filled.”
He explained that «when Ethiopia closes the bottom tunnel in the dam permanently, this means that the water will not come out only at high levels, about 42 meters», indicating that the water is still moving and rushing.
He pointed out that Ethiopia addressed the interior that it started storing and filling the Renaissance Dam, then addressed the outside that it is not filling, so as not to cause problems regarding negotiations, commenting: “Water is stored behind the Renaissance Dam, and it will soon become clear that Ethiopia is trying to keep water permanently.”
And the leaders of the African Union will hold a summit tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss the crisis of building Ethiopia for the Renaissance Dam on the Nile.
The meeting will be held under the auspices of the African Union, which is chaired by South African President Cyril Ramafuza.
