The security media cell in Iraq denied at dawn on Monday, what was reported by several media outlets about the fall of a missile near the Baghdad International Airport terminal.
A brief statement published by the cell said: “We deny this news completely, and the Baghdad Operations Command did not indicate any rocket launches until about one oclock after midnight.”
“We call on all media outlets to be accurate and take information exclusively from the security media cell,” she added.
And Iraqi sources announced earlier, that “a missile landed in the vicinity of Baghdad airport, and that it did not explode.”
A security source said on Saturday that “a missile targeted the American embassy in the fortified Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad, but the defense system managed to shoot it down.”
He added, “The missile fell outside the walls of the embassy.”
