Today, Saturday, the Court of Cassation, headed by Counselor Abdullah Asr, commuted life sentences (25 years) against the artist Tariq Al-Nahri, and 9 other defendants in the case of the “events of the cabinet,” and the burning of the academic complex, with a maximum sentence of 15 years.

The verdict is final and cannot be appealed again to any criminal department.

The Cairo Criminal Court had sentenced Tariq El-Nahry and 9 others to life imprisonment of 25 years for their retrial of the case.

The academy was set on fire in December 2011, and “Al-Nahri” was arrested in April 2012, on charges of involvement in the case, and prosecutors released Tariq al-Nahri days later, and the Cairo Criminal Court issued life sentences in absentia to life imprisonment against Al-Nahri and others.
