Scientists are continuing their attempts to solve the mystery of the emerging corona virus, after a new symptom was revealed that revealed infection with Covid-19.

“Masrawy” reviews for you, the new offer that may reveal your infection with “Corona”, according to the British newspaper “The Sun”.

Doctors have warned that a “persistent hiccup” could be a new symptom of the Coronavirus.

Hiccups are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm, which is the muscle separating your chest and abdomen and plays an important role in breathing.

This comes after a man suffering from hiccups for several days was confirmed to be infected with the Covid-19 virus, despite the person having no other symptoms of the deadly virus.

The 62-year-old patient, from Chicago, USA, was admitted to the hospital, where doctors also noted that he had lost undue weight.

According to a report published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, the man had diabetes but did not have a fever or sore throat, which are the main symptoms of Corona.

But he was suffering from continuous hiccups for four days, and when he was tested for Corona virus, his result was positive, which means that he is infected.

Hiccups are involuntary and can be triggered by some of the foods we eat or because of stress.

It is known that the main symptoms of the Coronavirus are coughing, a high temperature and a loss of the sense of taste or smell, but it seems that new symptoms appear in the recent period.

The American citizen, upon arrival at the hospital’s emergency department, had a temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius, and his heart rate was 96 beats per minute.

Doctors examined the lungs and found “ground opacities” indicating that the person may have weak lungs. Other tests found that this was spreading through the lungs, and then the patient was transferred to an isolation room where he received treatment for pneumonia.

He was administered a Corona test swab, and upon arrival at the care unit, his temperature was measured again, and it was at 38.4 ° C, and the patient’s heart rate also rose to 104 beats per minute.

Doctors put him in an isolation room, gave him the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine, and then the patient tested positive for coronavirus.

Since scientists know very little about the virus, new symptoms continue to appear. In May, loss of the sense of taste and smell was added to the official list of symptoms, and researchers also claimed that conditions such as headaches should be added to the list, and other people who survived Covid also reported that Their hair is starting to fall out.

And now, “The Sun” newspaper says: “We present here a case of persistent hiccup as a new symptom of Corona virus infection, for a 62-year-old man.”

The newspaper adds: “This is the first case of a persistent hiccup of a patient with Coronavirus.”

Doctors in “Cook County” Health, in Chicago, say that people who suffer from hiccups should not be excluded from the possibility of developing Corona.

They added: “Doctors must know the differences of Corona infection, as more cases are discovered with different symptoms.”
