Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced the provision of medical service to 3 million citizens with chronic diseases free of charge, as part of the President’s initiative to follow up and treat chronic diseases under the slogan “100 million health”, since its launch on June 20 until Monday..

This came during a meeting held by the Minister of Health and Population, today, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky, Assistant Minister of Health for Supervision and Follow-up Affairs and Head of the Health Care Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance, Dr. Muhammad Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives, and Dr. Muhammad Dhahi, President of the Public Authority For health insurance, Dr. Hana Sorour, head of the basic care sector, and Dr. Mustafa Ghanima, head of the curative medicine sector, to follow up the progress of work on the initiative of the President of the Republic to follow up and treat chronic diseases.

The minister indicated that the medical examination was signed and the necessary examinations and analyzes were conducted for 3 million citizens, and treatment was provided to one million and 800 thousand chronic disease sufferers, out of the number for which the medical examination was signed, for a period of 3 months to come, at a monthly cost of about 360 million pounds. Among them, 260 thousand state expense decisions, and one million and 540 thousand health insurance decisions.

The health statement indicated that the campaign provides 108 different types of medicines, including medications (pressure, sugar, liquidity, lipid reducers, coronary vasodilators, heart-regulating drugs), through 228 outpatient clinics in hospitals, 321 health units and medical centers, and 89 cars. Mobile medical convoys, in all governorates of the Republic.

The statement added that the minister directed the inclusion of all citizens benefiting from various health initiatives, within the initiative of the President of the Republic to follow up and treat chronic diseases, conduct the necessary checks for them and dispense treatment to them through the “100 million health” database, in addition to providing the necessary awareness to them of the need to urge their families to Detecting chronic diseases.

The statement added that the minister also directed to send messages on mobile phones to citizens, especially those over 40 years old, urging them to go immediately to the nearest hospital, health unit or mobile clinic to sign an examination and follow up on their health status, and to check on them, and they can also know the working hours of the campaign and the closest place for them. Through the “Egypt Health” application, appealing to citizens with chronic diseases the need to monitor diseases (heart, pressure, diabetes), in addition to screening for “kidney” diseases.

He revealed that the governorates that witnessed the highest frequency of the initiative are (Assiut, Giza, Sharkia, Beheira, Qena, Menoufia, and Dakahlia), adding that the age group most frequented the initiative is from 40 to 60 years old..

He pointed out that safe corridors have been allocated for the entry and exit of patients in hospitals to support and encourage patients with chronic diseases to continue completing their treatment and follow up their health in safe ways, and to prevent mixing between patients infected with the Coronavirus and patients without the virus, stressing that all necessary preventive and precautionary measures are taken and that infection control methods are followed. And taking into account social distancing, in addition to requiring those who hesitate to campaign to wear a muzzle, and wash hands before and after they are examined with alcohol disinfectant.

The Minister of Health directed a number of advice to patients with chronic diseases, to preserve their health, including keeping medicines on time and avoiding processed meats, as well as foods that contain a high percentage of salts such as pickles and salted fish, in addition to making sure to eat vegetables and fruits. Fresh, and avoiding foods that contain high levels of vegetable fats, stressing the need to maintain constant exercise.
