Learn about healthy alternatives to white rice

White rice is one of the foods that people avoid when dieting with the goal of losing excess weight, and some studies also indicate that consuming white rice more than 5 times per week increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Here is a set of alternatives that are more beneficial than white rice, from my lady’s kitchen website:

1- Quinoa: Quinoa seeds are characterized by being free of gluten, and rich in protein, iron, fiber, and amino acids. Quinoa seeds are also an important source of complete protein.

2- Brown riceBrown rice contains fiber that helps improve digestion and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

3- Barley: Barley lowers cholesterol levels in the body, and is also rich in selenium, which is rarely found in other nutrients.

4- Cauliflower rice: Cauliflower rice is easily prepared by crushing cauliflower in a food processor, and it is a low-carb alternative, as it contains few calories and a good amount of vitamin C.

5- black wheat: If buckwheat is eaten regularly, it improves heart health and reduces blood sugar levels. It is also rich in fiber, known to fight cancer, and is low in calories.
