Alexander Gentsburg, director of the Gamali Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gentsburg, announced that a Russian vaccine against coronavirus will not be available soon for children.
Gentsburg indicated that this vaccine in accordance with the law must first undergo a full course of tests on adults.
The director of the Russian Medical Center said in this regard: “I am very hopeful that the vaccine will be suitable for children, but according to Russian law, the vaccine cannot be tested on children and a new drug can only be presented after passing the full course of testing on adults, so when the third stage of the test ends , We will be allowed to study under the age of 18 “.
In turn, Vadim Tarasov, director of the Institute of Transformative Medicine and Biotechnology at the University of Sechinov, pointed out that before the vaccine is used in the treatment of children, preclinical tests are usually performed on young animals, and after that, a decision is made regarding the treatment of children with the drug.
“It is too early to talk about the use of the vaccine on children, but they are also not part of the risk group, because they tolerate the disease more easily,” Tarasov said.
Earlier, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced that the clinical trials of the vaccine against coronavirus infection, which was developed by the Gamali Center, had already been completed, and a package of documents was being prepared for registration.
