Today, Wednesday, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was sworn in before the members of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, to be the sixteenth Emir of Kuwait. This is to succeed the late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The swearing-in ceremony at the Kuwaiti National Assembly was attended by Parliament Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and all members of Parliament and the Kuwaiti government.

The new Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, arrived at the headquarters of the Kuwaiti National Assembly at exactly ten and 45 minutes this morning. Where he was received by the Speaker of the Council Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim and the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the national anthem of Kuwait was played, and then he was taken to the Amiri rest in the Council. Where he signed in the register of the Council, before heading to the Abdullah Al-Salem Hall to take the constitutional oath.

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was named crown prince of Kuwait on February 7, 2006, and on February 20, the Kuwaiti National Assembly unanimously pledged him to the position.

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah began his political life as governor of Hawalli Governorate on February 21, 1961, and remained in charge of it until March 19, 1978 when he was appointed Minister of Interior, which he continued until January 26, 1988, when he was appointed Minister of Defense.

In the wake of the liberation of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was appointed on April 20, 1991, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and he held her responsibility until October 17, 1992, and on October 16, 1994, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the National Guard.

Then he took over the portfolio of the Ministry of the Interior again on July 13, 2003; Where an Amiri decree was issued appointing him as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and on February 20, 2006, he was formally installed as Crown Prince of the country.
