Egypt today, the victorious actor with God, one of its great and distinguished artists in the field of cinema, is going to his final resting place after his death on Saturday afternoon in a hospital in Alexandria at the age of 70 years.
Al-Muntasir Billah is gone after suffering for 12 years from several diseases, the beginning of which was a stroke. His departure comes after he left a record of accomplishments, as his career, since his inception in the early seventies of the last century, culminated with about 180 works of art.
The life of the late artist was full of surprises and funny stories, one of which was narrated on Facebook by his friend, writer and screenwriter Walid Youssef, and its facts took place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which linked them with al-Muntasir Billah, a relationship he described as kind.
Walid Yusef said that a Saudi fan of the fifth decade of life of the play “Ajeeb, Wonderful People,” was attending a daily performance in Jeddah in 2001 to the extent that he watched it from the first row of the auditorium with his children “more than 20 times.”
In a conversation with him, it was revealed that he is “the owner of the factories that participate in the work of the covering of the Holy Kaaba,” and he asked to speak with the victorious God to honor him with an invitation to host him in Mecca “and enable him to enter the prayer inside the Kaaba.”
Walid Youssef added, “We were almost crazy … an opportunity that will not be repeated to enter the Kaaba and pray there.”
However, the dream was not possible to achieve, because the victor in God, although this honor pleased him, but he apologized indirectly, and responded, “with his usual smile, God willing … present..we conclude the offers and visit you in Mecca, God willing …”.
As for the reason, Walid Youssef says that “Monty”, as he likes to call the late Victorious God, “all those present except the honorable guest knew the secret of his apology … because he is Christian and because he was ashamed of the disclosure for not embarrassing the man, he dismissed him kindly.” Walid Yusef added, about not being lucky enough with them with such an opportunity to pray in the Kaaba, by saying, “You go beyond us all and go to the victor in God, may God have mercy on him.”
