Ex-Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who completed his agreement with Al-Ahly, issued an official statement depositing the team that coached him for 8 years.

Musimane said: “With a sense of pain and sadness, I leave Mamelodi Sundowns, I took an offer from an international team.”

He added, “Sundowns has been my family for 8 years. Club president Patrice Mutsby has been like a father, teacher, friend and keeper of secrets. I could never leave him or leave Sundowns.”

And he continued, “I will leave, and I carry the spirit of the yellow nation (nickname Sundowns) with me.”

And he added, “After winning 5 league titles with Sundowns, bringing the team’s balance to 10 titles, how can I find leaving easy? How do I bid farewell to the family here, the administration, the club and the fans.”

He stressed, “With all my heart, I am happy that the club president blessed my new step. I expected nothing less than a man who was good and generous with me, the kind of leader that any family, club, company or country would like, and I was honored to have some of his wisdom.”

“My success is his success. Without it, I would not have achieved half of what they have achieved. I leave the Sundowns family, knowing that our bonds are difficult to break. Our path will meet again. This is not a divorce from Sundowns.”

“I’m going out on a new voyage outside of my comfort zone, and I know Sundowns will use this to develop a new vision,” he declared.

He explained, “I had 4 years left in my contract, but that opportunity was very great, and it would not have come to me without being part of Sundowns and leading them to win the African Champions League and qualify for the Club World Cup.”

“I will admit that there were mistakes that occurred in my career, but there were more laughter and victories, I will take these matters with me to my new experience. For all my mistakes I apologize to the president and the club, and I wish them success in defending titles.”

Al-Ahly completed its agreement with South Africa, Pitso Musimane, to succeed Swiss coach Rene Fyler in training Al-Ahmar.

FilGoal.com learned that Musimani will sign a two-year training contract for Al-Ahly based on his desire, and he will sign it when he arrives in Cairo in the coming hours.

Musimani brings with him 3 assistants, Rolani Moccuena as assistant coach, Capello Rangwana as a loads coach, and Moussa Matlapa as performance analyst, which opens the door for the continuation of Italian Michel Ianaconi, coach of the goalkeepers, with the team. (See details)

The South African coach, as FilGoal.com knows, won support and approval within the planning committee, due to the precedence of his crowning championship in 2016, as well as his extensive experience working in the brown continent.

What also stood in the ranks of the Mosimane nomination, is his knowledge of Al-Ahly and its players, and of the three teams competing for the CAF Champions League title, Zamalek, Wydad and Raja.

Musimani’s proficiency in dealing with players psychologically, and the popular acceptance he enjoys from the point of view of the Planning Committee, was the reason for his nomination.

Musimani had won the CAF Champions League with Sundowns in 2016 at the expense of Zamalek.

Mosimane led the Sundowns in 2012, winning the League titles 5 times and a summer twice, the Nedbank Cup twice and the Telecom Cup twice, as well as winning the Champions League and the African Super Cup.

Musimane was selected as Coach of the Month 5 times in the South African League, as well as the best coach of the season 4 times and won the Best Coach of the Month award in 2016.

Musimani renewed his contract with Sundowns last May for 4 seasons.

FilGoal.com learned that Al-Ahly will thank its current coach, Rene Fyler, after facing the arsenal, after negotiations between the two parties reached a dead end. (See details)
