FilGoal | News | My trip in Africa – my season in the Joule: The Al-Ahly and Zamalek quartet is my favorite .. and this is my dream

Four months ago, held an interview with Pitso Mosimane, former artistic director of Mamelodi Sun Downs, to learn more about his character in the “My Journey in Africa” series. re-publishes that dialogue to learn more about the character of the South African coach, after completing his agreement with Al-Ahly to train the team, unlike Renee Fyler.

The happiest moment in your football career?

Winning the CAF Champions League in 2016 at the expense of Zamalek and then crowning the Super Cup in front of Mazembe, it is difficult to achieve two titles against two of the three most-crowned clubs in Africa.

The worst moment in your career?

There’s never a bad moment in football, I can’t remember now.

The best match in your coaching career and the worst encounter?

The best is the 6-0 win over Orlando Pirates 3 seasons ago, outside our home.

As well as beating Al-Ahly last season 5-0 I do not believe the result yet because it is the club of the century in Africa and it is impossible to lose with that result.

The worst game was a loss from Bloemfontein Celtic in the league in 2015, 5-0. We played very badly and didn’t create a chance and it was a heavy result.

Best player trained with you?

There are so many Pellet ores, Gaston Sereno, and Percy Tao that have developed amazingly with me.

Your favorite player in Africa?

There are many great players who will do a lot for Sun Downs if they are included, such as Ali Maaloul and Ramadan Sobhi from Al-Ahly, Ashraf Bencharki and Shekabala from Zamalek, and Yahya Gibran in Wydad.

Your favorite coach?

Pep Guardiola despite my likeness in South Africa to Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, because I built the Sun Downs from scratch as he did in England.

But I love Guardiola and Johan Cruyff.

A team you’re afraid to face?

There is really no way because we play every season against big teams like Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Wydad, Mazembe and Esperance.

A dream you wish to fulfill?

Winning the Club World Cup I want to achieve something different, Mazembe and Raja reached the final, but did not win the title, I dream of becoming the first coach to bring that title to Africa.

The thing you most wish to change in Africa?

Improving the quality of the stadiums When we play in the Nordic countries, we see the quality of the great stadiums, but Africa suffers from the quality of the stadiums in general.

Developing the competition system in the Champions League and better managing organizational and marketing matters to achieve greater profits for everyone.
