Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of football at Al-Ahly club, revealed the nature of the injury suffered by Rami Rabia, the first team defender, during the Tanta match that took place yesterday in the general league competitions.
Rami Rabiaa had asked to be replaced in the last five minutes of the match, after feeling severe pain in the posterior muscle, before he made, during the past hours, x-rays of the injury site.
Abdel Hafeez said in official statements that X-rays performed by Rami Rabia revealed that he had a 10 mm tear in the posterior muscle, and he needed a treatment period of three to four weeks.
Abdel Hafeez confirmed that Rabia will miss the first-leg match against Moroccan Wydad in the semi-finals of the African Champions League, and that attempts will be made to prepare him for the return match against the Moroccan champion that will be held in Egypt.
Al-Ahly faces the Moroccan Wydad team on October 17th in Casablanca in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, while the return match will be held on the 24th of the same month in Cairo, while the final match will be held on November 6.
Yesterday, Saturday, Al-Ahly club defeated Tanta with a clean goal, in the match that was held at Al-Ahly Wai Al-Salam stadium, in the 29th round of the General League.
