Today, Tuesday, the Cairo Criminal Court decided to renew the imprisonment of political activist Alaa Abdel Fattah and lawyer Mohamed Al-Baqer for 45 days, pending investigations into their accusation of “spreading false news that would affect the national security of the country.”
The decision was issued under the chairmanship of Counselor Muhammad Al-Saeed Al-Sherbini and the membership of the advisors, Wagdy Abdel Moneim and Dr. Ali Emara.
The prosecution assigned the accused in Case 1356 of 2018 to Supreme State Security, the crimes of “joining a group established in contravention of the provisions of the law, whose purpose is to call for the suspension of the provisions of the constitution and laws and to prevent state institutions and public authorities from carrying out their work.”
