South African press reports said, this morning, Wednesday, that coach Pitso Musimane has resigned from the leadership of the Sundowns team after he led the “Brazilians” to win the South African League title last season.
The South African “Times” newspaper, in an exclusive news to it, mentioned that Musimane decided to leave the leadership of Sundowns, as he is likely to be on his way to North Africa and here to lead Al-Ahly or its competitor in the African Champions League, the Moroccan Wydad Casablanca team.
The source indicated, in statements to the newspaper, that the club asked Musimani to lead the task immediately, hoping to compete for the African Champions League title, as he will have full powers in choosing his technical staff.
The newspaper reported that Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Chairman of Al-Ahly Club, is a fan of Musimani, who won the South African League title on five occasions, in addition to winning the African Champions League title at the expense of Zamalek in the 2016 edition.
Musimane led the Sundowns team in 2012 and the “yellow” management renewed the contract of its 56-year-old coach after he signed a new contract this year linking him to the South African champion for four years.
The last period has witnessed news that the Swiss Rene Weiler is about to leave the technical leadership of Al-Ahly, as the Red Castle Council headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib will decide the position of the Swiss technical director in a meeting to be held tomorrow, Thursday.
Fyler is likely to be his last match with Al-Ahly this evening, Wednesday, when he faces Al-Tarsana, the Egyptian Cup, in the round of 16 competitions.
Fyler led Al-Ahly to win the Egyptian we League title before the end of the competition in six rounds, as well as winning the Egyptian Super title, and also climbing to the round of four of the African Champions League competition.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahly will face Moroccan Wydad Casablanca on the 18th of next month in Casablanca, provided that the return leg will take place in Egypt on the 24th of the same month.
