It seems that the new Corona virus continues to spread in a superb way and refuses to stop killing and infecting many people around the world, in light of the lack of production of a vaccine or finding an effective drug to reduce Covid-19.

The biggest shock came after it was confirmed that the Corona virus was spread via buses, according to Chinese scientists who discovered 24 cases of infection due to one passenger who participated in a one-and-a-half-hour journey, which Masrawy reviews, according to “dailymail”.

Scientists have warned of the spread of the Corona virus through air conditioning units in buses, after 24 passengers on a bus in Zhejiang Province, China, tested positive for the virus, after a single trip that took an hour and a half on January 19.

Scientists believe that the air conditioning unit allowed the transmission of the virus by spreading viral droplets through the bus, some air conditioners take the air from the outside and expel it again, while others, called split units, recycle the air itself, which is what happened on this bus.

British experts warned last month that such units need either to be turned off or used with windows open to prevent the spread of Covid-19, and that offices, cinemas, theaters and other indoor facilities should be equipped with newly serviced air-conditioning units that ensure fresh air is pushed out.

The latest study, published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, was conducted by scientists at the Chinese Zhejiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention who attributed the outbreak to a single passenger on a bus in the Eastern Province on January 19, days before the lockdown measures in China. The passengers were not socially distant but some are believed to have been wearing “gag” face masks.

A total of 68 passengers took the bus for an hour and a half to attend an event, and 24 passengers tested positive for coronavirus, 18 of whom had moderate symptoms, and the other six were either mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic.

The passengers who sat near the infected man were not more likely to contract the disease than those at the other end of the bus, which means that all passengers were exposed to catching Covid-19, and this indicates that air conditioning played a role in capturing viral particles and recycling them in place Another is through the ventilation holes on the bus.

The authors said in the research paper: “Research indicates that in closed environments with recycled air, the SARS-Cove-2 virus, which causes Corona, is able to spread in an extraordinary way.”

The authors added: “Our discovery of the possibility of transmission through the air is of great importance in public health, and future efforts to prevent and control the epidemic should take into account the possibility of the spread of airborne Covid-19 through the air, with the presence of air conditioning units.”

Dr. Shawn Fitzgerald, at the Royal Academy of Engineering, told the British Telegraph newspaper that opening a window while the air conditioner is operating may be the best way to reduce the risk of infection with the Corona virus, if you cannot open a window, turn off the air conditioner immediately.

The Chartered Institute of London warns on its website: “Air conditioning units that do not have a dedicated source for supplying outside air to a room could be responsible for the recycling and diffusion of airborne viral particles.”

In April, researchers blamed the air-conditioning unit for the spread of the Corona virus among at least nine other people who were eating at a restaurant in Guangzhou, China, in January.

A study appearing in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases looked at the accident in the restaurant in January, in which researchers say that one member of this family was suffering from an asymptomatic case, and two weeks later, the patient was infected with nine others, including members of Their family, in addition to two other groups, were sitting adjacent tables in the restaurant, which means that the strong airflow from the air conditioner can spread the virus between the tables in the restaurant. “

The infected tables were in the windowless place about half a meter from each other, as the authors claim that the most likely cause of this outbreak is the transmission of droplets, however, they say that the droplets remain in the air for a short time and travel only short distances, so, they concluded However, it is possible that the air-conditioning device spread the virus further between the infected tables.
