Dr. Awad Tajuddin, the president’s health advisor, has warned that there will be a confusion between seasonal flu and Corona virus during the coming winter.

He said during a telephone interview on the “Kalam Hawan” program, broadcast on the “Al-Hadath Today” satellite channel, that there is a need to continue precautionary measures to limit the spread of Corona.

Injury risks

The incidence of colds and acute respiratory viral infections increases in the fall season, and infection with the “Corona” virus may be accompanied by it at the same time, which leads to the failure of the work of some organs in the person’s body.

And the simultaneous infection of these two diseases can cause disruption of the work of some organs, causing problems in the heart and blood vessels, and can be fatal to humans, according to what Russian ENT doctor Vladimir Zaitsev said.

He stressed that influenza can turn into pneumonia, and that there is a risk of problems in the pharynx, bronchi and lungs, according to the Russian agency, Sputnik.

How to avoid injury?

In order to avoid catching a cold or seasonal flu during the fall and winter seasons, doctors recommend taking the flu vaccine, as vaccination is especially important for people who are most vulnerable to flu complications, including: pregnant women, the elderly, people with chronic diseases and young children.

Dr. Amjad Al-Haddad, head of the Allergy and Immunology Department at the Institute of Serum and Vaccine, explains to “Masrawy” that the influenza vaccine will be available within weeks at the Institute of Serum and Vaccine.

The serum is divided into two types, which are triple containing three strains of the virus suitable for ages under 3 years, and another quadruple type containing four types of virus for ages over three years.

Categories banned from taking the vaccine:

“Al-Haddad” added that there are groups that are prohibited from consuming influenza vaccines, namely, those with egg allergy, and those with fever and high temperatures.

Categories that should take the serum:

– People with chronic diseases, such as patients with hypertension, diabetes, kidney failure, heart, and patients with sensitive chest.

Pregnant women

– Elderly.

People with weak immune systems.

The rate of protection against the virus in the case of taking the vaccine:

Al-Haddad confirms that the vaccine protects against infection with the virus by 70%, and in the event of infection, the vaccine prevents complications, depending on the nature of the body, the extent of the person’s immune system response and the strength of the virus that was exposed to it.

The head of the Allergy and Immunology Department at the Institute of Serum and Vaccination added that there are no side effects of the vaccine, and a slight rise in temperature may occur on the day of administration, but the incidence of this is minimal.

And the effect of the serum lasts for a year after taking it, and the vaccine is injected either into the anterior thigh muscle or the shoulder muscle, and it is strictly prohibited to give any vaccine to the posterior Elijah muscle.

According to Al-Haddad, the vaccine is available in all branches of the serum and vaccine institutes in the governorates. Its price has not yet been determined, but it is likely that the average price ranges from 170 pounds, and it will be offered within weeks.

According to “mayoclinic”, the flu vaccine is the best way to protect against influenza, but there are additional steps that you can take to protect you from influenza and other viruses, even corona, these steps include the following:

Wash your hands frequently and intensely with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.

Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Avoid crowded areas if the flu is prevalent in your area.

Avoid close contact with any patient.

Cover your mouth with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing, then wash your hands.

Regularly clean and sanitize surfaces that are often touched, such as tables, doorknobs, and light switches. This can help prevent the infection from spreading by touching surfaces that have the virus on it and then touching the face.

Practice good health habits. Exercise regularly, get enough sleep, drink plenty of fluids, eat a healthy diet and manage stress in your life.

If you have the flu, you can prevent it from spreading by staying home and staying away from others. Stay at home until 24 hours have passed since the fever has passed.

In sum, taking the flu vaccine can reduce your risk of exposure to the flu and its complications, and following these precautions can help protect you from this virus and other respiratory diseases.
