Victory ends the Carteron collaboration adventure and reaches a quarter of the champions

The Saudi Al-Nasr team snatched their AFC Champions League quarter-final qualification card after defeating fellow countryman Al-Taawon 1/0 during their match today, Sunday, in the round of sixteen of the tournament in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Al-Taawon’s loss ended the career of Frenchman Patrice Carteron in the AFC Champions League, after he led Al-Taawoun to qualify in the group stage.

Al-Nassr owed the credit for this victory to Abdul Razzaq Hamdallah in the 75th minute.

Al-Nasr qualified for this role after leading Group D with 11 points from six matches, compared to 9 points for Al Sadd, 7 for Sepahan and 5 for Al Ain.

Al-Taawon rose to this role after it ranked second in Group C with 9 points from six games, trailing one point behind the leaders of Persepolis, the Iranian leader, and ahead of the direct confrontations against Al-Duhail, Qatar, compared to 7 points for Sharjah, the UAE.

On Monday, the quarter-final draw will be held.

Qatar will host the West Asian Champions League competitions in the combined tournament system, which began on September 14 and will continue until next October 3, according to the decision of the AFC due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
