A joint US-Greek statement on the review of the US-Greece strategic dialogue said that the two countries will discuss energy projects during the next strategic dialogue.
The two countries plan to hold the third round of the High-Level Dialogue in Washington in 2021.
The statement came after a meeting between Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Thessaloniki on Monday.
The statement stated that “the United States and Greece welcome the completion of the Greek section of the pipeline across the Adriatic Sea, and are looking forward to discussing their mutual support for the connection between Greece and Bulgaria, the Alexandroupolis project to re-convert liquefied natural gas into gas in Alexandroupolis, the privatization of the underground gas storage facility in Kavala, and the linkage project.” “Between Greece and North Macedonia, and others during the upcoming strategic dialogue .. The parties also welcomed the formal establishment of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum on September 22 as a regional organization and the continued successful cooperation in the energy field under the 3 + 1 process.
The statement said, “Greece and the United States highlighted ExxonMobil’s partnership with Total and Hellenic Petroleum in offshore exploration in Crete, in addition to the possibility of American investment in the renewable energy sector through the recently ratified Greek Environmental Law Modernization Act.”
The United States and Greece welcomed the opening of new investments and acquisitions by American companies in Greece. They affirmed their commitment to developing this direction, “the document says.
The statement indicated that the two countries attach great importance to cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the fifth generation, and the privatization of strategic infrastructure.
