Ahmed Hassan, the former Al-Ahly player, Zamalek and the former Egyptian national team, said that the penalty awarded to Moroccos Wydad in its match against Al-Ahly was “correct”, stressing that Betso Musimani, the coach of the red team, may become a new legend in Al-Ahly’s history.

Al-Ahly managed to win two unanswered goals over Moroccan Wydad during the match that brought them together yesterday evening, Saturday, in the first leg of the African Champions League semi-finals.

Al-Ahly’s goals were scored by Mohamed Magdy “Qafsha” and Ali Maaloul from a penalty kick that witnessed Mohamed El-Shenawi’s brilliance in countering a penalty kick that was awarded against Al-Ahly.

During radio statements for the “Falcon Stadium” program, Ahmed Hassan said: “Al-Ahly played a big match against Moroccan Wydad, and they deservedly won.”

He added: “In the presence of the VAR, the referees’ mistakes are reduced, and in the Al-Ahly and Wydad match, there were no major mistakes, and Al-Ahly was awarded a correct penalty kick.”

He continued: “I think that the penalty kick that was awarded to Wydad was correct. There was some kind of friction between El-Shenawi and the Wydad striker.”

He continued: “Al-Shenawi’s response to the penalty kick was a great moral boost for Al-Ahly.”

He continued: “The character of Al-Ahly was present and strongly against Wydad. If Musimani succeeded in achieving the African Championship, he might be a new legend in Al-Ahly’s history.”

It is worth noting that the return match between the two teams will take place on the 23rd of this October at Cairo Stadium.
