Hegazy was born in Ismailia Governorate, Egypt, on January 25, 1991, he started with Ismaily in the Egyptian Premier League, and spent two seasons with the Dervishes, during which he played 28 games.

Then, in December 2011, he moved to Italy’s Fiorentina, but suffered an injury to the cruciate ligament twice, first in December 2012 and the second in September 2013.

In January 2015, he moved to Perugia on loan, then the most prominent step was when he joined Al-Ahly of Egypt in the summer of 2015 with a contract that extends for 5 seasons.

By July 2017; The Egyptian international defender joined the English West Bromwich Albion team on loan from Al-Ahly until the end of the 2017-18 season, as Albion had the option to buy and this option was activated after that in December 2017.

Hegazy has 59 matches for the Egypt national team, scoring two goals.
