I lived again with Ibrahim Al-Bahrawi .. brother and friend, and he was often the caring father, even with those of his older age .. I lived with him before in the literature of Ain Shams and he was a lecturer and I was a student, and places converged and the distances between students, repeaters and professors faded, over the grass and with sandwiches Al-Foul and Al-Tameya from “Najaf”, or in the limited meetings in the apartment of Omar Al-Farouq, or in the bar of the Windsor Hotel in central Cairo, or the house of Ahmed Abdel Rahim Mustafa in the Carmelite Sisters Street in Shubra .. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman Mustafa, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Anis, Abdel Khaleq Lashin, and Raafat Seif and the others are all gone!

I lived with him when the boycott decision was imposed on him, under the pretext of normalization with Israel, based on his page in the news, and I participated in publishing his combat articles during the Battle of the Geniza, where he remained its hero who did not surrender, and prevented the Zionists from obtaining Egyptian Jewish documents buried in the orchards. The articles published in the newspaper “Al Khaleej” were sent to the friend Professor Jamil Matar at the Arab League in Tunis. In order to be a proof and basis for removing Al-Bahrawy from those lists.

I lived with him after my return from the oil deportation in 1984, then settled in Egypt since 1985, and on the night of his departure I received a phone from a mutual friend, my professor, Dr. Mahmoud Odeh, in which he reassured my condition after an operation of suctioning bleeding and blood gathering in my brain, and I told him and Ibrahim Simran to see me the next morning, Al-Bahrawy confirmed in a subsequent phone call, at ten in the evening, about the visit, but in the morning – while I waited for the visitors – the news of his departure came to me, and I wrote at the time about him in «Al-Masry Al-Youm»!

I lived with him his laughter and his warm, affectionate smiles, and the flow of his feelings with the flow of his abundant knowledge and high culture, as I lived his frown, frowning and daring in confrontation to the point of violent clash!

A few days ago, I lived with his face showing in the photo that was carried by the cover of the latter’s writing, issued after his departure, “An Egyptian’s story with Israel.” And with every line – but every word – he remained present in front of me, as if we were sitting on the lawn, or on the flirty photos in the car club, After I took a kick to the top and became a member of it, where we gather … Minister Major General Mustafa Abdel Qader, may God have mercy on him .. and Professor Mahmoud Murad, Major General Nur Mustafa, may God have mercy on them, Dr. Mohsen Youssef, Dr. Nabil Helmy, and Professors Imad Al-Tarzi and Hussein Abdel Khaleq!

In these lines, I am not going to present the book, as it is an integrated document in which Abraham’s biography is, and in it he reveals what is his position on the Zionist state, which may surprise some, because it is a radical position that opposes it and warns against it, in contrast to all the impressions that suggested that Al-Bahrawi is not hostile to the Zionists!

Therefore, I will suffice for the reader to read the book – the document is very important, and I will content myself with quoting some parts of it in this article, and perhaps if the position allows in subsequent articles.

And by virtue of being a professor of Hebrew literature, Ibrahim Al-Bahrawi followed Israeli poetry through the march of the long struggle, and I stopped in front of a poem by the poet Pinhas Beldman, in which he laments the destroyer “Eilat”, which was sunk by the Egyptian missile boat, led by Captain Al-Qari, and it is entitled “The Light Over the Sea”, And it was published in “Maariv” newspaper, on 11/10/1967, in the literary supplement, and this is the text of what Al-Bahrawi wrote:

«In this poem, we meet the elegy of the victims of Eilat, which was sunk by Egyptian missile boats in 1967, and the poem presents a kind of usual lament, and confirms the memory of these victims with the poet … Perhaps it is worth noting that the incident of the sinking of the destroyer Eilat received special literary attention, so he received a literary record In a number of poetic and published literary works, its bell ranges between wailing and wailing over the fate of the ship’s crew, who drowned with it, and the promise of revenge and revenge for them .. As for this poem, it plays melodies of grief and mourning in response to the wave of grief that the accident spread one month or less after its occurrence:

The light faded … over the sea … the lives of my children, oh my God / in the ancient sand / cold iron … and the memory of the liquid blood / over the sea / and my daughter asks, maybe this darkness / a solar eclipse came at an unexpected time / no! My girl / Because before my eyes the corpses of my children are like swirls standing upright / If the eyes were too late for a moment to see roses / The roses of a veil on your face / Immaculate O my girl / Reddened until the blood of roses / The ornament of the death of my children / Oh my God».

Peace be upon you Ibrahim .. and peace to the heroes led by Captain Ahmed Shaker Abdul Wahid Al-Qari, and peace to all the fighters and resistance.
