At a price of 350 thousand pounds .. Egypt will launch its first electric car at the end of next year

Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of Public Enterprise Sector, said that the first locally assembled electric car will be launched by the end of 2021 in partnership with a Chinese company.

Tawfiq said during a phone call with Amr Adib on the “Al-Hekaya” program, that the new car will be priced at 350,000 pounds, and that it is the Chinese version of the “Nissan Leaf” electric cars.

He continued, that the percentage of the local component in the car will reach 45% in its early stages and rise within two years to 55%.

In December last year, the Ministry of Public Business Sector announced an agreement with the Chinese company Dongfeng for the automobile industry, to cooperate for a subscriber to produce electric passenger cars on the lines of the Nasr Automobile Company.

Tawfiq stressed that it is intended that the production capacity of Nasr cars will reach 25,000 electric cars within years.
