“It will be a difficult game without a doubt,” Henderson said in comments, most notably his club’s website.
He added, “Going to the Ajax stadium is always difficult, in football it is just about giving everything and doing what you can and focusing on what is important to you, which is to return with three points.”
He added, “I have full confidence that we will be able to drop Ajax, if we perform at the same level that we did against Everton, and better.”
Liverpool drew 2-2 with Everton in the Premier League on Saturday in a match that saw Reds defender Virgil Van Dyck severely sever the cruciate ligament, leaving him out of action for several months.
“The loss of Virgil is a big blow. I spoke to him and it is a difficult moment for everyone,” Henderson said. “We must be here for each other. I will be by his side as much as possible, and I trust everyone will do it.”
“I am sure that he will come back stronger, and we must do everything we can to help him. We must also win for him. We must emphasize that when he returns, he finds us struggling and fighting to win the championships.”
“You have to use times like these to be stronger. We need to look forward and work harder during the period that Virgil will be absent. He is a very strong personality mentally, so I’m sure he will come back stronger,” he said.
