Werner said: “In the first half we played very well, but when you concede to the goal of a goal 3 minutes before the end of the first half, things are not easy at all.”
“In all honesty, Southampton pressed us hard and we allowed them to do so. We had to win,” he added in his comments with the BBC after the match.
He continued, “I do not know whether we have a problem or not, but we have received 6 goals in 3 matches and this does not make us in the place we want to compete for titles.”
“In Germany we always say that defense brings you championships, and if we concede many goals, it will be difficult to win matches and win titles,” he said.
He finished, “Happy with my successful registration, but I wanted to win. Happy 50% and unhappy with the same rate.”
The draw is the second for Chelsea in 5 games, as it also tied with West Bromwich Albion 3-3, and lost to Liverpool 2-0, to occupy the sixth place temporarily with 8 points.
As for Southampton, it scored its seventh point in tenth place temporarily.
