After winning the league, Rahimi said, “We thank God for this victory. It is the culmination of everyone’s efforts.”
“Our triple goal this season,” he added in statements carried by the Moroccan championship website.
Raja will host its counterpart Zamalek next Sunday in Morocco in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
While the date of the second leg against Ismaily in the semi-finals of the Mohammed VI Cup for Arab Champions Clubs has not been set, noting that the first leg ended with the victory of the Dervishes with a goal.
An exciting end to the league
Raja snatched the Moroccan League title in a deadly time, with the end of the competition, with a goal by Abdelilah El Hafizi in the 90th minute.
Raja and Wydad were competing for the league title until the last moments, and excitement reached its peak in the last five minutes of the competition.
Raja won its 12th title in history and the first in seven years, while Wydad, the defending champion and the 20-time champion, lost the championship in the end.
Raja finished the season with 60 points from the 30 games, while Wydad was second with 59 points, and Nahdet Berkane came third with 57 points, to qualify for the Confederation.
The first half ended with a draw by Wydad against Al-Fateh Al-Rabati with a goal for each of them, while Raja delayed before the Royal Army with a goal without response, while Nahdet Berkane advanced to Olympique Safi with the same result.
The results of the first half were in the interest of Wydad after the three teams were equal, with 57 points, while Raja was second and Nahdet Berkane third.
Until the last 5 minutes from the end, the results shifted in favor of Raja after scoring a tie by Abd El-Ilah Hafizi in the 62nd minute, and the rest of the results continued as they were.
These results resulted in Raja crowning the league, Wydad winning third place and not qualifying for the African Champions League.
But the excitement reached its climax in the 88th minute when Wydad scored the lead, taking its score to 59 points in the lead, beating Raja.
The lost time was not less exciting, as Abdul Ilah Hafizi scored the goal of progressing to Raja and raised his team’s score to 60 points, to snatch the title for his team at the expense of Wydad and qualify together to the Champions League.
Wydad and Raja are preparing to face Al-Ahly and Zamalek in the first leg of the African Champions League semi-finals in Morocco next week.
