The World Health Organization said that obesity can increase the risk of developing severe Covid-19 infection by 7 times.

He pointed out that the Obesity Surgery Department of Ain Shams Medicine conducts many operations similar to the case of the last citizen, indicating that the number of obesity surgeries that it performs in the unit annually reaches 8 cases that are performed at a low cost, and the department has succeeded in conducting thousands of operations so far at rates A great success, noting that during the past two years, a large number of surgical supplies have been provided so that the surgical tools used are not re-sterilized.
He pointed out that losing weight is a health necessity and not a luxury or just an aesthetic form, because obesity is the main cause of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high triglycerides and cholesterol, arthritis, and sleep apnea.
While the Egyptian Association for the Study of Obesity called on obese patients to work on losing 15% of their weight as soon as possible, explaining that recent studies have proven a relationship between “obesity” and infection with the emerging corona virus, and the presence of more complications on the patient, asking patients not to stop Take the medications to combat obesity prescribed to them medically, with continuous communication with the doctor treating them so that their condition does not get worse, and the treatment comes with the desired result.
