Today, Monday, the Official Gazette published the approval of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to issue Law No. 205 of 2020 regarding combating acts of prejudice to exams, which was approved by the House of Representatives.
According to the law, anyone who prints, publishes, broadcasts, or promotes by any means, exam questions and answers, or any evaluation systems in the various Egyptian and foreign education stages, with the intention of cheating or disrupting the general system of exams, shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than two years and not exceeding 7 years and a fine of no less than 100 thousand pounds and not more than 200 thousand pounds.
An attempt to commit any of the acts stipulated in the first paragraph is punishable by imprisonment for a period of no less than a year and a fine of not less than 10 thousand pounds and not more than 50 thousand pounds, or one of the two penalties.
According to the law, a student who commits fraud or attempted fraud or any of the acts stipulated in the previous two paragraphs shall be deprived of taking the exam in the role he performs and the next one in the same year, and he shall be deemed to have failed in all subjects, and in the case of equivalent examinations, which are awarded by schools. In foreign countries, the student is deprived of taking the necessary material examinations for equivalence according to the Egyptian system, two consecutive rounds.
In all cases, a ruling shall be passed to confiscate the seized items, the subject of the crime.
