The Egyptian Drug Authority decided to withdraw different batches of five pharmaceutical preparations used as antibiotics, as part of the authority’s endeavor to enhance the concepts of preserving the effectiveness, quality and safety of the drug, as well as tightening control and follow-up systems, and controlling the local drug market. Al-Ghamrawi added that the authority has sent a leaflet to the producing company and distribution companies that includes freezing the assets they have, and has asked them to take back what was sold to pharmacies in all governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt back to stores, as well as inform the pharmacy departments of the health affairs directorates in the governorates of their balances and returns.

He stressed that the Drug Authority will take all legal measures against those who violate these instructions after the expiration of the specified period for the withdrawal of the preparation, and that the pharmacist inspection will follow up pharmacies, distribution companies and stores to ensure that these quantities and items are seized and destroyed, in order to preserve the health of citizens.
