Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, a member of the Senate, officially won the presidency of the Council during the inaugural session today.
Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek ascended to the podium of the President of the Senate, after winning the position of President after obtaining 287 votes out of 299 attending the session, 12 of whom were void.
Abdel-Razek won the absolute majority, after he ran solo, and supervised the election committee for the position of Speaker of the Council, a committee headed by Sameh Ashour, the appointed council member, and the former head of the bar.
This came after the elections that were held in the opening session of the Council today, headed by Major General Jalal Haridi.
The bylaws of the House of Representatives in force in the Senate regulated the procedures for electing the Speaker and the two representatives.
Article 11 of the regulations stipulates that the council’s office shall be composed of the council chairman and the two agents.
This morning, the inaugural session of the Senate began, according to the President’s decision to hold the Senate on October 18.
It is noteworthy that Counselor Abdel-Razek served as the former president of the Supreme Constitutional Court, and he spent a long time in the judiciary of all kinds.
