Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, was keen to follow up the fire that broke out in one of the back rooms on the third floor of the Al-Azhar Mosque building, a few hours ago, directing the departments concerned with Al-Azhar to follow the course of affairs and take the necessary promptly, and to inform his eminence of the latest developments first-hand.
The Sheikh of Al-Azhar reassured, through his contact with the administration of Al-Azhar Mosque, that the mosque building and its main areas, including recent renovations, were not affected by it, calling for providing him with an urgent and comprehensive report on the damage caused and the speed of remediation.
For his part, Dr. Hani Odeh, Director of Al-Azhar Mosque, said that the fire that broke out in the mosque a short while ago was a limited fire in one of the back rooms of the third floor of the mosque, stressing that it had been controlled in cooperation with the Civil Protection Forces.
The civil defense forces and the concerned authorities moved to Al-Azhar Mosque, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, the general supervisor of the scientific corridors of the mosque, and Dr. Hani Odeh, director of Al-Azhar Mosque.
