Arab newspapers and websites mourned the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and many writers expressed a state of sadness at the loss of an Arab leader who was wise, diplomatic and humanitarian.
While one book praised his national, Gulf, Palestinian, Arab and regional role, others pointed out that he left Kuwait “safe and comfortable.”
The 91-year-old prince passed away in the United States on Tuesday. Today, Wednesday, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was sworn in before the Kuwaiti National Assembly as the Emir of the country.
“Father of all is gone”
The main headline of the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Qabas, is: “We are sad for you,” and the newspaper says: “Kuwait is crying on the morning of wisdom and peace.”
Under the title “Farewell Abu Nasser”, Fakhri Hashem Al-Sayed Rajab says in “Al-Qabas”: “The father of everyone has passed away, the father of the poor has gone, the prince of humanity and diplomacy has passed away, and everyone’s refuge when brothers are different, the fifteenth Emir of Kuwait.”
Mubarak Ahmed Al-Arboud talks about “the departure of the leader of humanity.”
He says, “His Highness – may God Almighty have mercy on him – was able to make Kuwait more powerful diplomatically in foreign policy, and he was a permanent mediator to heal the rift between the countries in conflict in the Gulf, Arab and international levels .. He was always eager to place Kuwait at the forefront of countries with the help of the poor and the afflicted countries in All continents of the world, and he was committed to resolving the Palestinian issue and supporting the Islamic religion and the issues of its peoples.
‘A positive imprint on history’
The Saudi newspaper “Okaz” says in a headline: “The prince of the positions got off.”
Under the title “The Mourning Morning”, Jamil Al-Diyabi says in the same newspaper: “Certainly, the Gulf, the region and the world will lose in the absence of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, a man of peace and a symbol of wisdom. With his departure, the international community loses one of his wise men and the poles of his policy. There is no doubt that there is no fear for Kuwait after him, as he left Kuwait safe and reassuring, too strong to be shaken by any attempts or conspiracies to destabilize it. And all confidence in the new Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Regarding the late Emir, Abd al-Rahman Shalgam said in the London “Asharq Al-Awsat”: “Wisdom was his weapon and communicating with the active regional and international powers to build an effective shield that would protect Kuwait’s sovereignty and security. What raises the ceiling of Kuwaiti hope is that Crown Prince Nawaf Al-Ahmad is the son of the late Prince’s political and humanitarian school. “.
The Emirati “Al Bayan” also went to praise the new emir, noting that “the sixth prince … is the champion of youth and the architect of fortifying Kuwait’s security.”
The newspaper added that there are “several exceptional advantages that he is characterized by, the most prominent of which is the support of young people to rise and involve them in the responsibilities of the administration, and his long-time occupation in security positions, such as the Ministry of Interior, Defense and the National Guard, where he worked to arrange the country’s internal security, which provided the late Emir with the opportunity to consolidate.” The Status of Kuwait in Foreign Policy.
In the Egyptian “The Seventh Day,” Adel Al-Sanhouri describes the late prince as “the sheikh of Arab diplomats.”
He says, “He took over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 40 years and had clear fingerprints that were not limited to the borders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, but rather the Arab and international world … and no one forgets his role in the conclusion of the peace agreement between the two parts of North and South Yemen in the year 72 and mediation between the Sultanate of Oman and Yemen to ease tension.” Between the two brotherly countries in the year 80, then led efforts to heal the rift during the Iran-Iraq war in the mid-eighties.
“Issued the hearts of the Arabs”
The Qatari “Al Sharq” says that “the prince of humanity is at the forefront of Arab hearts on social media.”

And international conferences, which effectively contributed to its success, and reflected the bright and honorable image of Kuwait on the Arab and international levels.
Oman newspaper says in its editorial: “Omanis place a great appreciation in their hearts for the lost nation, in light of that relationship based on great fraternal love that does not need confirmation or lines to clarify. The late had love, appreciation, and a great place in the hearts that he gained through his authentic personality. And his pure spirit and his eagerness to promote sincere relations with countries and peoples, in a way that makes his country in the ranks of appreciation and respect among others.
The Bahraini “Al-Ayyam” says in its editorial: “The late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad is the title of wisdom. He is the wise man who spared sister Kuwait and spared our region and his Arab and Islamic nation many of the scourges and disasters that would almost plague them had it not been for his wisdom, benevolent endeavors and balanced policies that were respected and appreciated in everywhere”.
For his part, Othman Saadi refers in the Algerian “Al-Shorouk” to the Arab role of the late Emir.
He says, “The Algerian revolution knew Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as the head of (the committee to collect donations for the Mujahideen of Algeria). The committee was headed by Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and he was the head of the Information Department in the Kuwaiti government, meaning the Minister of Information.
He adds, “May God have mercy on the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the noble and original Arab man whose personality radiated throughout his life with deep human values. The Algerian people and the mujahideen of his revolution have mercy on him and remember him as a great supporter of the first November revolution.”
