Rudy Giuliani, US President Donald Trump’s attorney, has sought to defend himself after appearing in a clip from a new comedy movie with his hands in his pants.
The former mayor of New York City described the clip, in the new part of the movie “Porat”, as “a complete fabrication.”
He explained on Twitter, “I was adjusting my shirt after taking off the recording equipment.”
He was referring to a part of the film, starring British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, where he is being interviewed by an actress pretending to be a TV journalist.
The actress plays the daughter of Borat’s character in the new movie.
The movie, scheduled to open on Friday, is a sequel to the hit 2006 film “Porat,” in which Baron Cohen played an unreal journalist from Kazakhstan.
In the new film filmed earlier this year, Baron Cohen is trying again to ambush American politicians and members of the public.
The scene in which Giuliani appeared relates to an interview in a hotel room about the Trump administration’s response to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Then the young actress invited Giuliani, 76, to have a drink with her. After removing his microphone, he lay on the bed, and appeared to be putting his hands inside his pants.
Referring to this passage, Giuliani wrote on Twitter: “At no time did I act, not before, during, or after the interview, totally unfit. And if Sacha Baron Cohen is referring to something otherwise, then he is a complete liar.”
Giuliani said in July that he initially thought he had been asked for a serious interview.
He explained in another tweet Wednesday: “As soon as I realized it was a trap, I called the police.”
“This is an attempt to curb my constant exposure of crime and corruption committed by (Democratic presidential candidate) Joe Biden and his entire family.”
Trump’s camp has accused his Democratic rival for the White House and his son Hunter of wrongdoing in relation to Ukraine and China while he was vice president. This is a claim Biden denies.
Neither Baron Cohen nor anyone representing him has commented yet on Giuliani’s recent tweets regarding his new movie.
