Books – Muhammad Nassar:

The Department of Urban Design and Planning at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, has prepared a draft of the new building requirements project in the Cairo governorate, in order to be discussed by the General Authority for Urban Planning and approved by the Supreme Council for Urban Planning to start its application.

The draft, published by Masrawy, included proposals to completely halt construction in areas within 21 of the capital’s 38 neighborhoods.

According to the recommendations, a total cessation of construction work, except for service projects, will take place until a strategic or detailed plan for these areas is prepared.

The northern area

The neighborhoods that demanded the draft to stop construction include in areas with each of the neighborhoods: (Al-Amiriya, Hadayek Al-Qobba, Al-Sahel, Sharabia, Shubra, Rawd Al-Farag).

Southern area

The neighborhoods that demanded the draft to stop construction include in areas with each of the neighborhoods: (Helwan, Al-Tebeen, Al-Ma`sara, Maadi, Al-Basateen, Dar Al-Salam, Tora, and Ancient Egypt).

the eastern zone

The neighborhoods that demanded the draft to stop construction include: (Al-Salam Awal, Al-Marj, Al-Matareya, East Nasr City, and West Nasr City).

Western Region

Include the neighborhoods that demanded the draft to stop construction in areas with each of the neighborhoods: (Bulaq, Manshiet Nasser).

A source at the Ministry of Local Development explained to Masrawy that this draft has not been finally approved and therefore it is preliminary and is being discussed in the General Authority for Urban Planning, in order to approve the amendments it deems appropriate to it before its final approval.
