As soon as I started to announce the good news of vaccines that were just around the corner from their early stages of production, the world organization frustrated hopes by saying that the pandemic will continue with a severe third wave next year.
Elaf from Dubai: With the increasing frequency of the second wave of the pandemic in October, most European countries re-imposed strict measures to stop the spread of the disease that infected more than 15 million infections in the old continent, the world organization issued, on Sunday, a new warning to European countries that a third wave is a “fatal” The outbreak of the new virus is coming only months later, according to a report published by the “Al Arabiya” website.
David Nabarro, the WHO special envoy for the Coronavirus, predicted a third wave of the pandemic in Europe in early 2021, if governments repeat what he said had failed to do what was necessary to prevent the second wave. “They (governments) did not work to build the necessary infrastructure during the summer months after controlling the first wave,” he added in an interview with Swiss newspapers.
Nabarro, a British national who failed to win the post of Director-General of the World Health Organization in 2017, said: “Now we are facing the second wave. If governments do not prepare the necessary infrastructure, we will have a third wave early next year,” after two days of saying Hans Kluge, head of Europe at the World Health Organization, said Europe is responsible for 28 percent of global cases and 26 percent of deaths.
Nabarro was particularly concerned about the situation in Switzerland and France, with nearly 95 percent of intensive care units occupied.
“Europe is once again the epicenter of the epidemic alongside the United States. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but it will be a difficult six months,” Nabarro said at a press conference in Copenhagen.
