Abdel Hafeez Ladl: The official “is not always right.”

Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of football at Al-Ahly club, responded to the statements of Mohamed Fadl, a member of the five-year committee of the Football Association, regarding submitting a memorandum to the Disciplinary Committee to punish Al-Ahly player for electrocution, due to what he did during the club’s celebrations for winning the league.

“I was hoping not to talk about this matter, and we spoke yesterday and we stressed the respect of the system,” Abdel Hafeez said in statements to Sada Al-Balad.

He added, asking: “What are we expecting from Al-Ahly administration? To punish a player for an act or thing that he did not do !, and what will be presented before the Disciplinary Committee?”

He continued: “What will be shown to the Disciplinary Committee will be a tape of celebration or a citation of the words of those who attended the incident.”

He continued: “The topic was in the context of a celebration. Mahmoud Al-Khatib would not have waited to punish him if he saw that he was wrong.”

He explained, “In short, the official is not always right. It is impossible to impose a penalty, even for only one pound, on a player who did not make a mistake to satisfy an official.”

He concluded that he spoke with the player and fully explained the situation to him. He did not find that Kahraba had wronged Muhammad Fadl, as the latter claimed, and the Al-Ahly player could not be held accountable for an act he did not commit.
