Al-Ahly raises its star name from the list of the new season

The coaching staff of the first football team at Al-Ahly club, led by South African Pitso Mosimane, decided to raise the name of Mahmoud Metwally, the defender of the Red Genie, from the team’s list during the new season.

This came due to the injury that the player sustained, with a cut in the cruciate ligament of the knee, during his participation with Al-Ahmar against Aswan in the Premier League, last August, where he underwent surgery, which causes him to be absent for a long period of at least 10 months.

The red genie had managed to qualify for the final round of the African Champions League at the expense of Moroccan Wydad, with a score of 5/1, in the aggregate of the home and away matches.

Al-Ahly will hit a date with its traditional rivals Zamalek on November 27 at Burj Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, after Al-Abyadh’s success in overcoming the hurdle of hope in the African semi-finals and winning 4/1 back and forth.
