Dr. Amna Naseer, professor of doctrine and philosophy at Al-Azhar University, confirmed that her statements were wrongly taken about the permissibility of a Muslim woman marrying a non-Muslim, confirming that marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim is legally prohibited.

“Naseer” said in a telephone interview with the journalist Wael Al-Ibrashi through the program “The Ninth”, broadcast on the Egyptian Channel One, that there is no conclusive text on the marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim. This is why .. Social Media has a problem of the time in promoting statements incorrectly.

She also affirmed in a statement, on Wednesday evening, that “the marriage of a Muslim woman to the polytheist is forbidden according to the text of the Qur’an, and her marriage to a writer is forbidden by the jurisprudence of the jurists.”

She added: “The statement attributed to her came in response to one of the seminar’s questions about the existence of a Quranic text prohibiting the marriage of a Muslim woman to a man of the People of the Book. Children do not enter the religion of the non-Muslim father. Accordingly, she categorically affirms her support for the prohibition that came from the opinion of the majority of jurists, so that the children would not leak out or their faith would be dispersed between the Muslim mother and the father belonging to the People of the Book. As for marriage to a polytheist or polytheist, it is absolutely forbidden for the existence of the Qur’anic text explicitly forbidding it, and it is not permissible for any diligence of any kind. ”

She stressed the importance of renewal in religion and its discourse and the necessity of ijtihad in emerging jurisprudential issues, excluding issues in which the Qur’an text was revealed, which is what she has lived doing throughout her scholarly career.

And I called upon all to adhere to the honesty of the word, the sincerity of the transmission, and not to be cut from the context to achieve a precedent or raise controversial issues in the media and social media.

And she concluded: Any statements contrary to what was stated in this statement are «a statement excluded from its original context and containing fraud and a desire to inflame seditions».
