Google has added a new shortcut to the Gmail side panel for Google Contacts, as the company announced via a blog post, while the feature is rolled out from November 23, and perhaps the goal of adding this shortcut is to make users see additional information about people within their organization.
The company said, “This feature expands upon the information that you can actually display when you hover over a person’s name in Gmail, and in the side panel, and you can learn more about the identity of the person you are cooperating with, the team they work on, and whether you have interacted with them before. This feature facilitates collaboration and communication with key stakeholders.
With this side panel shortcut, Gmail users will be able to see basic contact information such as phone number, email address, team, manager, office and office location, and finally whether they have ever received an email from them before.In addition, this shortcut also allows users to add people To their contacts and send them an email or message.
Google said that there is no administrative control over this feature and there is no end-user setup for this feature, and the company revealed that the feature is available for Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, in addition to G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise for Education, Nonprofits, and even those who use personal Google accounts.
