Scientists have discovered two versions of the Corona virus that are very close to the version of SARS-CoV-2 that caused the “Covid-19” epidemic around the world.
The magazine Nature said that the two copies were discovered in Cambodia and Japan in bats that were caught years ago, and are housed in the refrigerators of scientific research centers.
The scientists point out that if the close relationship between the version discovered in Cambodia and the version that caused the epidemic is proven, this would provide important information about the way the Corona virus was transmitted from bats to humans and on the origin of “Covid-19”.
As for the Japanese version, which corresponds to the version that causes the epidemic by 81%, its study will allow to reveal more information about the diversity of viruses of this class.
The magazine noted that what was found was the first two copies of similar SARS-CoV-2 that were discovered outside China.
