The Uruguayan Federation issued an official statement today, confirming that Suarez was exposed to the Coronavirus after his analysis sample came positive, during the camp of the national team competing in the World Cup qualifiers for South America.
Suarez was infected with the Coronavirus just two days before the Uruguay national team’s match against Brazil in the fourth round of the South American World Cup qualifiers.
The injury also came as a blow to Atletico Madrid and its Argentine coach Diego Simeone, who meet Barcelona in the tenth round of the Spanish League, on Saturday, at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
Uruguay ranks third in the qualifiers for the next World Cup in Qatar in 2022, with 6 points after 3 rounds.
As for Atletico Madrid, it is ranked third in the Spanish League (La Liga).
Luis Suarez had left Barcelona this summer after the arrival of the Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, who recommended leaving the Uruguayan striker for Barca after 6 seasons with the Catalan team, scoring 198 goals in 283 matches.
