Two people were killed and a woman was seriously injured, today, Saturday, after they were subjected to a double attack with a sharp tool in the city of Cholet, western France.
The French newspaper Le Figaro quoted the chief prosecutor in Angers, Eric Puyar, as saying that “a person suspected of carrying out the attack has been arrested.”
Puyar noted that “the weapon used in the attack is a cutting tool, and there is no alleged terrorist figure accused at this time.”
He stressed that “it is too early to present the arrested man as the perpetrator of the attack.”
“The first attack targeted two elderly people who were found injured,” the French official said. “Unfortunately, the 83-year-old man did not survive, as he died while being transported by helicopter to the hospital.”
The 81-year-old woman was transferred to hospital, and her health condition is currently stable, according to the same source.
The Public Prosecutor added that “the second attack took place 20 minutes after the first attack, and resulted in the death of a man in his fifties of his wounds.”
