One of the most senior Jewish religious figures contracted the Coronavirus even though he received the vaccine twice.

Today, Sunday, the Jerusalem Post newspaper said that the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, Yisrael Meir, was not exposed to the new Corona virus, although he was vaccinated against Covid-19 twice.

He quoted his grandson, Yedidia, not in a tweet to him on Twitter that his grandfather had contracted the epidemic, but he feels that he is fine, explaining that Rabbi «Lau» A was infected with the infection from his wife, who had contact with someone who had tested positive for the virus, early last week.

The newspaper added that the 83-year-old rabbi was vaccinated the first and second time with the Pfizer vaccine.

She added that the aim of vaccinations is to strengthen the immunity of people against the virus, but there are some cases in which it is still possible to be infected with the Coronavirus and transmit it to others without showing any symptoms.

It is noteworthy that more than 20% of the population of Israel received the first dose of vaccinations with the Pfizer vaccine, according to the Ministry of Health announced earlier.

While Israel has recorded an estimated death rate of 600 cases due to infection with the virus since the beginning of this January, while the newspaper Yadot Ahronot today said that the number of confirmed new infections until Saturday evening reached 5,000, after conducting 69,000 examinations, indicating that the positive of the infected cases reached 7.2%, and that 1115 people were currently hospitalized in critical condition, while 246 of them were placed on ventilators.
