Today, Monday, Maj. Gen. Abdel Hamid Al Hajjan, Governor of Qalyubia, decided to open an urgent investigation against the background of what the Director of the Land Networks Information Center issued on his personal Facebook page of the social networking site “Facebook” that insulted the citizens of the province, especially the capital, Benha, after describing them as “beasts.”
In an official statement, the Governor of Qalyubia directed the profound greetings, respect and appreciation to the ancient people and citizens of Qalyubia, and appreciation for the societal role they have for the advancement of our society.
The text of the statement stated, “With reference to what was attributed to the director of the Terrestrial Networks Information Center on his personal Facebook page, the Qalyubia Governorate apologizes for what has been dealt with, and the governorate always works to clarify the facts to the citizens, and what is being done on the ground and confirms the governorate. All the executive leaderships have full respect and appreciation for the citizens of Qalyubia. “
The statement added that “the governor directed the matter to be referred to an urgent and immediate investigation, and to take all necessary legal measures, stressing that all executive leaders in the governorate not express any personal opinions on social media pages related to public work, and that the authority responsible for issuing media data is the General Administration for Public Relations and Media in the governorate. And the official page of Qalyubia governorate on Facebook affiliated with the governor’s office.
In a related context, a number of social media and Facebook activists in Qalyubia governorate launched an electronic campaign to respond to the bullying, insult and slander directed by Engineer Talaat Sultan, the engineering consultant for the Qalyubia governorate and the director of the Ground Networks and Information Center, after his controversial post in which opponents described the capital development project Banha and the Nile Corniche Banha and the region Wind bridges and Farid Nada Street as “beasts”, after the citizens’ objections to the project, and the cutting down of old trees in the Corniche on the pretext of their danger to the citizens and their unfitness, which is what the people of Benha described as the “trees and fields” massacre.
The electronic campaign called “Al-Banhawiya, Men Not Beheem,” in which they demanded that the governor of Qalyubia, Major General Abdel Hamid Al-Hajjan, the governor of Qalyubia, end the investigation that was decided to be opened as stated by the engineering consultant to dismiss him and stop him from work, not just blame.
