Artist Salah Abdullah criticized the case of attack and controversy that filled the pages of social networking sites after the death of Safwat Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Shura Council and former Minister of Information.
“Abdullah” wrote on “Facebook” expressing his fear of the obituary of a deceased person with political stances: “The social media has reached the one afraid that he is seeking mercy for someone who has died in order to insult his father, his mother, and the dead.”
Safwat al-Sharif, head of the Shura Council and former Minister of Information, died at the age of 87, Wednesday evening, after a struggle with leukemia.
Safwat Al-Sharif was a former head of the Shura Council and Secretary-General of the ruling National Democratic Party before its dissolution during the January 2011 revolution, and he also served as head of the State Information Service.
