Former Liverpool player Jimmy Carragher confirmed that he is not afraid of the departure of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, the Reds player, from Anfield, adding that there is an obstacle that may prevent him from joining the two poles of Spain.
Salah has sparked controversy over the past few weeks about his future at Liverpool, as he has shown his readiness to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Carragher commented on the matter, saying that Mohamed Salah is definitely one of the players who evaluate his football career and may wish to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
He added: “Some players see their careers like this. I think Eden Hazard always wanted to go to Real Madrid at some point, and I would not be surprised if this matter was in Salah’s imagination a few years ago.”
He continued: “But I think that his situation now – his salary and his age – may impede clubs from negotiating for him. You are now talking about 100 million pounds in a 28-year-old player, I think Real Madrid and Barcelona will look at younger players like Kylian Mbappe, the Paris Saint-Germain player.” Or, Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, or even his Senegalese colleague Sadio Mane. ”
He concluded: “These two clubs (Real Madrid and Barcelona) do not currently have a lot of money, and at the same time, Salah’s contract with Liverpool is still ongoing, so I am not afraid as a fan of Liverpool that he will leave soon.”
