Inter are preparing to host Juventus at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in Italy’s derby, in the 18th round of the Italian League.
“It will be a match between two teams that have the ambition to fight over something important,” Conte said at the press conference.
“Every match is important and we always want to collect the 3 points. Juventus is a reference point for everyone, just as they dominated Italian football recently, when any team wants to know what level it is? It looks at Juventus in Italy.”
“I do not want to say that they are the favorites to win, but we respect the team that won the Italian League title for 9 seasons and wants to win for another year. Respect is the least thing we can offer Juventus for what it has provided, especially in recent years.”
And he continued, “We closed the gap last season and we hope to repeat the same thing, because I remember when the difference of 20-25 points for Juventus was in the lead and the scene was not good.”
He explained, “No team in Italy can say that it closed the gap with Juventus but rather improved. They dominated the title for 9 years and strengthened the team by including Alvaro Morata, Federico Chiesa, Diane Kolosovsky and Weston McKinney. They deserve to be saluted for improvement every year.”
Antonio Conte helped Juventus win the league title in the first 3 consecutive seasons.
The Italian answered what Inter is missing, saying: “We have to improve on the level of mentality, commitment, and the feeling of blood boiling to kill the match. This is part of maturity and the players work hard in all respects.”
On Christian Eriksen, who involved him as a midfielder against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, Conte said: “We want to benefit from all the team’s elements. It is clear that we do not have a midfield player like Marcelo Brozovic who plays against defenders, so I tried to rely on Eriksen in this role.”
“Eriksen previously played in the midfield position, and he is now a playmaker, and having a player playing in more than one position might be beneficial,” he said.
